El Hamra Street Restaurant: Lebanese Signature Cuisine in Egypt

El Hamra Street Restaurant, located in Talaat Harb square in Downtown Cairo, is an original Lebanon-food source in Egyptian streets where its name reflects Beirut's famous Hamra area. The name Al Hamra originates from the Arabic word “Hamra” which translates to the red color. This is one of the few authentic Lebanese restaurants in Cairo in Talaat Harb Square, downtown which will take you to Lebanon and back. Ibrahim Elsahaf, El Hamra Street Restaurant Manager said that they offer many different shawarma meals, burgers, and Lebanese Manakish which is a traditional Lebanese variety of pita bread spiced with Zaatar. Also, Makanek is a type of Lebanese sausage that is served in mezze with lemon, pickles, and salad with cucumbers and tomatoes. Elsahaf added that “we offer atmospheric dining that attracts Lebanese food lovers living in Egypt to come and enjoy eating” describing that they create fun for their customers and “we all enjoy singing and dancing together”. The manager said that they create culinary masterpieces specially curated by Lebanese chefs that use only the finest ingredients exported from Lebanon. He mentioned that their served meals are budget-friendly and affordable to their customers where they sell Shawarma in kilograms for prices that range from EGP 75 to EGP 350 according to the quantity. This is considered suitable for family and friends gatherings. A variety of meal options is achieved in the El Hamra street menu which includes the “Heroes Mix” meal that offers 2 beef Shawarma Saj sandwiches and 2 chicken Shawarma Saj sandwiches alongside garlic and Tahini dip. The menu also includes the “Heroic power” meal which consists of 4 chicken Shawarma Kaiser sandwiches, 2 sausage Shawarma Kaiser sandwiches, and 2 beef Shawarma Kaiser sandwiches. Elsahaf explained that one of their most unique servings is the oriental sausage shawarma that is served in either Lebanese, saj, or french bread.
