El Akeela Street .. #6 Khan El Feteer: Chicken, beef Tortes

Whenever the word “cake” or “torte” is said, a dessert impression usually crosses the mind and saliva anticipates a sugary serving. However, “Khan el Feteer” managed to introduce a new definition of cakes and tortes through their branches in Cairo, the latest of which is their truck in El Akeela Street. Chef Saeed Mohamed, the Head Chef at El Akeela Street’s branch, said that the torte that they offer is considered a family serving since it can be shared by up to five people. It is served in the form of a 3-layered pizza. Each torte consists of multiple layers; the first is a medium-sized pizza that is prepared in the form of a thick dough that is, then, covered with an external dressing layer from 4 sides. Inside, the torte the pizza toppings are stuffed together with equal amounts of ingredients alongside different genres of cheese, such as mozzarella, according to Saeed. The torte is then cut into triangular slices to be shared by a group of customers. Saeed mentioned that they inspired the name of the truck from the Turkish language where the word “Khan” means a shop. However, they do not offer any Turkish platters but the naming made their branches stand out as a well-established savory pies provider. Saeed pointed out that besides the pasta tajines, oriental pies, and Italian Pizza that they offer, the most ordered plate is the torte where their loyal customers come every now and then “craving delightful torte bites”. Mai Adel, University Student, said that “Khan El Feteer” is one of her most favorable places because she is a fan of savory dishes. She usually takes her new friends to the truck to enjoy the good service and eat her favorite pizzas and tortes. “My friends dropped me an unforgettable surprise birthday party there,” Adel said. She mentioned that her friends know how much she loves the place so they brought her Birthday candles on top of the cake. “The staff are so friendly and helpful”. Adel mentioned that the pies’ truck usually has offers where she either gets a chocolate or custard pie as a gift after ordering the torte. “Prices are budget-friendly, and all taxes are included”.
