Going through the binge foodie street, El Akeela, aromas of food from all over the globe attract the street visitors. The Lebanese Manakish with its doughy scent and the delightful flavor is sold on one of the trucks in El Akeela street. Man’oucheh was the food brand that first brought the famous Lebanese Manakish to the Egyptian dining tables, over a decade ago, when they opened their first branch in El Mohandseen. Essam Saeed, Man’oucheh branch manager, said that they offer a variety of Manakish stuffing options. Zaatar alongside a number of additives represents one of the highly demanded platters offered by the truck. “Other fillings are available like Sausage, Tuna, Spinach, and Omelette”. The most demanded order is the “special kofta Man’oucheh” which is usually craved by the truck’s loyal customers. Saeed added that besides the numerous Manakish options, they offer Man’pizza which is a mixture between Manakish and pizza where the dough is the same yet takes a pizza shape and is covered with distinctive dressings. The different offered Man’pizzas are, as follows: Virgin, Original and Extra. After many other Lebanese restaurants opened in Egypt, Man’oucheh still stands out because of the Lebanese spirit it preserves in all its kitchens through the presence of Lebanese chefs and the fact that customers can always customize their orders, Saeed added. Saeed illustrated that Manakish is easy to make at home through simple ingredients, such as white flour, instant yeast, sugar, olive oil, and salt. However, the secrets of the Lebanese taste are derived from the recipe itself.
