She also indicated when more than one type of vegetable is placed in one place in large quantities, one of the most common reasons for spoiling the entire quantity, especially since each type of vegetable needs a different method of preservation. She added that each type of vegetable must be separated to keep it fresh for the longest period because each type has a different storage period than the others. She indicated the use of kitchen towels, to absorb excess moisture and water when washing fruits and vegetables, which keeps the fruits of vegetables fresh without spoiling for the longest time in the refrigerator. As for the medical side, In light of the spread of the Coronavirus and the authorities’ warning to avoid contracting it, the mother has a great responsibility, which is how to purify vegetables and fruits in a healthy way to preserve the health of her children and family from germs and bacteria. Whereas, nutrition expert, Walaa Gharib, advises that you should follow some steps that help cleanse the fruit of germs. She indicated that vegetables and fruits are washed under running water and rubbed well to get rid of dust residues and microbes on their surface. Fruits containing a lot of dust, such as potatoes or citrus fruits, can be rubbed with a clean brush. Gharib added to leaving vegetables and fruits in vinegar and water for a quarter of an hour, then rubbed them well under running water. Gharib indicated that if there are leafy vegetables such as lettuce that may contain small insects or snails inside, they are soaked in a mixture consisting of 2 cups of water and 2 tablespoons of salt and lemon and left for one to five minutes at most, then soaked in water Vinegar or water is soaked for 15 minutes, then washed under running water and left to dry. And his conclusion mentioned that in the case of sensitive fruits whose taste is affected, such as berries, they are sprinkled with diluted lemon juice, 2 cups of water, and half a cup of lemon, then the berries are left in pure water for 15 minutes, then left to dry and then placed in the refrigerator.
