Gluten-free life .. Celiac patients: Inability to eat bread, require special products

Inability to eat normal bread and replacing many normally served foods with gluten-free labeled ones; that is the case of people infected with celiac disease where their immune system attacks the body tissues, damaging the small intestine and causing an inability to digest any nutrients whenever any gluten-containing element enters the body. Due to the lack of awareness about the condition, Mohsen Saleh, A university student, didn’t know that he suffered from gluten intolerance and has been subject to multiple wrong diagnoses of his case until he ran by a specialized Facebook group in providing support for his case and guidance about the nature of gluten-free food. “I have been suffering from severe weakness and lethargy for 12 years,” Saleh added, “for us, gluten is a deadly poison that I look for a gluten-free label before ordering any meal”. Dr. Ghada Abdel Moneim, an Immunology Lecturer at Zagazig University, explained that Gluten sensitivity is an immune disease that affects the small intestine when gluten is eaten. Abdel Moneim added that the causes and treatments of celiac diseases haven’t been identified yet. However, “A gluten-free diet is a must to avoid health consequences and growth related-problems”.
